After sitting out the Europa League triumph and final Premier League fixture, the Blues' skipper now misses their Stateside double-header against Manchester City.
Chelsea defender John Terry has been left out of the Blues' squad for their postseason tour of America, but midfielder Eden Hazard will make the trip, the club announced.The Blues captain missed the Europa League final and Chelsea's last Premier League match against Everton, and he has failed to recover from an ankle injury in time to play in two friendlies with Manchester City on Thursday and Saturday. Ryan Bertrand also misses out on a seat on the plane thanks to a knee injury which also ruled him out of Sunday’s Premier League finale.
Hazard, meanwhile, also sat out the Europa League win over Benfica but looks to have recovered from his hamstring problem and is likely to feature at some point during the two matches.
Frank Lampard will lead the squad to the U.S., with the first match in St. Louis on Thursday, before it travels to New York to play manager-less City at Yankees Stadium.
Two academy youngsters make the 23-man squad for the trip, with midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek joining defender Andreas Christensen, who was an unused substitute in Sunday’s 2-1 win over the Toffees.
