Former Barcelona midfielder Deco has taken the time to praise Andres Iniesta and feels the Spain international deserves to win the Fifa Ballon d'Or.
The 29-year-old finished second in the election in 2010 after helping Spain to World Cup glory, while he came in third last year to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, and Deco believes the Portugal and Argentina sensations are the only reasons why the Barcelona midfielder has failed to win the prize.
"Iniesta would definitely deserve a Ballon d'Or," Deco was quoted as saying by El Mundo Deportivo.
"What's happening is that all the attention in the media goes to Messi due to his great performances. However, the players all realise that Iniesta is absolutely amazing.
"If I had to compare him to someone, I would say Zinedine Zidane. Andres is phenomenal.
"The problem is that he hass two animals ahead of him in Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Because there's no denying that Cristiano is a beast as well."
The 23-man shortlist for the Fifa Ballon d'Or will be announced on October 29.
